Barlow's defense slammed the door on Hillsboro setting the tone for a 53-6 win Friday night.

The Spartans were held without a first down until midway through the second quarter, and their first four offensive possessions saw them move backward seven yards. Defensive back Garrett Oetting provided the highlight when he ripped the ball away from Hillsboro receiver Daekwon Mitchell, who had the ball in his hands inside the 10-yard line after running a deep route down the middle. The break up stole away a chance for the Spartans to tie the score.

Moments later, Oetting picked off a pass on 3rd-and-long, but a late hit on the QB erased the turnover.

The Bruins scored on their opening possession when Nick Collins moved through the middle four yards to put his team up 7-0 early.

Barlow put up 39 points in the second half to run away with the win.
