Barlow's football team gave No. 5-ranked Clackamas its biggest challenge of the season before falling 49-28 to the high-powered Cavaliers on Friday night.

The Bruins held a 7-0 lead after taking their opening drive 77 yards in 12 plays, capped when QB Austin Davis escaped the rush and sprinted 6 yards inside the pylon for a score.

Clackamas would answer on its first possession with Nick Vaughn went around the right side, got hit at the 2-yard line and spun off a crowd of tacklers into the end zone.

The teams would trade punches until the Cavaliers moved ahead to stay with a pair of touchdowns in the final minutes of the first half.

Vaughn found his way over the goal line from 9 yards out. After forcing a three-and-out, Clackamas retook the field and found the end zone in two plays ending with receiver Cole Turner reaching over the top of a defender and landing in the end zone for a 25-yard touchdown and a 28-14 halftime lead.

Clackamas (5-0) returns home to face Gresham next Friday, while Barlow (2-3) hosts Oregon City.
