OREGON CITY — It's only natural for a team to improve over the course of a season, and the Barlow volleyball team showed that in spades against Oregon City.

After losing their first matchup to the Pioneers in five sets back on Sept. 7, Barlow got their revenge on Tuesday night, defeating Oregon City in straight sets 25-11, 25-18, 25-21.

"We had a lot of serving errors the first time we played (Oregon City). We played a lot cleaner in this game and we played with more discipline," Barlow head coach Jessie Mott said. "We have gotten better every game, so that is something that has been very encouraging to see with this team."

Oregon City jumped out to a 5-2 lead to start the first set, but the Bruins came back to take a commanding lead after an incredible stretch of plays by middle blocker Autumn Wilson.

Wilson would get back-to-back blocks and then rattle off three kills later on in the set as Barlow scored 14 of the next 15 points to take a 16-6 lead.

"We did not play well," Oregon City head coach Leejay Lee said. "In volleyball, it's pretty simple. If you can serve and pass better than your opponent, you're in a really good spot…(Barlow) served and passed better than us. That's a lot to overcome when your are playing against a really good team."
