TROUTDALE — The Mt. Hood Community College volleyball team stormed through the third set, and benefitted from some lightning bolts early in the fourth, but eventually the clouds cleared and Clark College left town with a 25-19, 25-14, 17-25, 25-18 win in Wednesday's regular-season finale.

After dropping the first two sets, the Saints came alive in the third racing out to a 20-5 lead after Kamalie Labanon connected on back-to-back aces, and Grace Buchanan fired a kill cross court.

Hannah Spears hit a kill off a Clark block, and Madison Pernich sent a winner into the back corner to finish off the third set.

The Saints jumped to a 7-4 lead early in the fourth before the Penguins reeled off five straight points to gain a lead they wouldn't surrender the rest of the way.

The Saints (18-17) advance to next week's Northwest championship tournament as the final team out of the South Region. Mt. Hood will open the bracket against West champion Pierce College (32-11) at 9 a.m. Thursday in Tacoma.
