Barlow freshman Annie Roberts reaches the semifinals of the Junior Worlds Racquetball championships

CONTRIBUTED PHOTO - Annie Roberts poses with her bronze medal from last weeks Junior World Racquetball Championships in Minneapolis along with coach Brian Ancheta, left, and parents Bryan and Danielle. Barlow freshman Annie Roberts had to be careful coming through the airport metal detectors on her way home from Minneapolis last week.

She landed in the Twin Cities with her regular racquetball supplies — her racquet, some canisters of blue bouncy balls, her protective goggles. When she returned home, Roberts was wearing a large bronze medal around her neck after reaching the semifinals of the Junior Worlds Championships.

She finished with a 5-1 record in the 14-and-under girls bracket at the tournament that took place in the Target Center underneath the floor of the NBA's Minnesota Timberwolves.

"It was really cool. It was such a select tournament, it was fun to see how I stacked up," Roberts said.
