The David Douglas wrestling team stormed out of the gates to protect its spot atop the Mount Hood Conference with a convincing 45-28 dual win over Oregon City in Thursday's clash of unbeaten teams.

The Scots won six of the first seven bouts — five by fall — to claim a 33-6 lead at the halfway point. That included a stretch from 126 to 145 pounds where David Douglas wrestlers Adam Young, Andrey Ponomarev, Anthony Cha and Kyle Beal spent barely five minutes on the mat combined to dispatch their four opponents.

The clincher came in the most intense battle of the night where Josiah Green pulled off a 6-1 decision over Oregon City's Dawson Drews at 170 pounds. Green trapped his opponent in a cradle hold in the center circle for half-a-minute during the second period to claim the decisive near-fall points.

The Scots travel to the Earl Gillis Invitational in Newberg on Friday before hosting Centennial in a league dual at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.
