The Barlow boys put up 24 fourth-quarter points to break away from David Douglas for a 69-57 win in Friday's Mount Hood Conference basketball opener.

The teams stayed within a bucket of each other most of the way, trading the lead six times through the first three quarters. Barlow gained some breathing room late in the third quarter when Evan Inglesby pulled down a David Douglas miss and started down the center of the court. No one stepped in to stop him, so he dribbled coast-to-coast for a layup that put the Bruins up four heading into the fourth quarter.

Teammate Daello Portin-Chapman took notice from the bench and when inserted into the lineup he made a similar long run at the basket, converting with a floater in the lane. Portin-Chapman followed with a 3-pointer out of the corner to put the Bruins in charge 59-45 as the clock moved under four minutes.

The Bruins play at Gresham at 6 p.m. Tuesday, while David Douglas hosts Central Catholic.
