The David Douglas boys basketball team took charge early against Gresham on its way to a 72-42 home win on a groovy night where the Scots' honored their alumni from the 1970s.

After building a double-digit lead in the first quarter, David Douglas put the game away late in the third. Abdi Dahir chased a loose ball into the corner, diving out of bounds and flinging it blindly over his head to teammate Ameer Muhammad before crashing into the gym wall. Muhammad took the ball coast-to-coast for two points at the other end.

Dahir would score on driving layups on the next two possessions, and the Scots took a 25-point lead into the fourth.

David Douglas plays at Centennial at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
