The Open Door boys basketball team used a heads-up play to get into overtime Tuesday night, but its luck ran out in the extra session as Grand View Christian put on a 10-point spurt to take the 47-40 win.

Trailing by two in the final minute, Open Door's Ivan Morales pulled down a missed shot and Huskies' coach Travis Declet called timeout to draw up a play. Morales found himself with the ball at the top of the key when he decided to drive to the basket. A crowd of defenders quickly closed in, and Morales struggled to maintain control. He put a series of ankle-high dribbles on the floor, giving teammate Vitaliy Maftey enough time to come to the rescue. He scooped the ball off the court and lunged toward the basket for the tying layup.

Open Door scored first in the extra session but Grand View responded right away with Angel Pacheco drilling a 3-pointer at the other end to give the Eagles a lead they would not surrender.

Open Door (9-9) hosts Country Christian (1-15) at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
