The David Douglas girls basketball team gained the inside track for the 6A playoffs with a convincing 64-37 home win over Centennial on Friday night.

The Scots found themselves down 12-2 in the opening minutes, but rushed back and an 18-point scoring spree to take the lead before the end of the first quarter.

David Douglas went on another spurt by hitting the first four buckets of the second half to build a 20-point margin. Savannah Proske scored a game-high 22 points and went 6-for-6 at the free-throw line.

"Tonight was a big one for the playoff race," Scots' coach Chris Cavanaugh said. "We needed to beat them to give us a shot at a top-four finish."

The Scots (10-11) finished the week in fourth place in the Mount Hood Conference — a win at home Tuesday against last-place Reynolds would all but lock up that playoff berth.
