Eagles start spring break with a mercy-rule win vs. Mustangs

CLACKAMAS — Centennial's softball team kept the bases buzzing on its way to an 11-1 mercy-rule win over Milwaukie to start a spring break tournament at Hoodview on Monday morning.
The Eagles loaded the bases in four of the five innings, breaking loose for five runs in each the third and fifth innings.
Ashley Hawkins ended the game early with a three-run homer that cleared the center-field fence.
Centennial added a 3-2 win over Newberg in the second game of a Monday doubleheader.
Centennial finishes the tournament Tuesday with games against Madison at 7:30 a.m. and against Forest Grove at 12:30 p.m.
After a team retreat to the coast, the Eagles (5-1) return from spring break with a blockbuster home game against Three Rivers-leading Tigard (4-0) at 4:30 p.m. Monday.
