OREGON CITY — The Centennial girls track team earned a split to start the Mount Hood Conference season last week, getting past the host Pioneers 75-70.

Maddie McHone led the Eagles with 13 points that included a sweep of the hurdle races, along with anchoring the 1,600-meter relay that came through the finish line a full straightaway ahead of Oregon City to secure the team win to close out the day.

Central Catholic swept the team duals 77-68 over Centennial and 78-66 over Oregon City.

• On the boys side, Centennial sophomore Jimmie Barton turned in the state's fastest time in the 100-meter dash, breaking down the straightaway in 10.78 seconds.

Oregon City swept the team duals 86-59 over Centennial and 75-70 over Central Catholic.
