GLADSTONE — Corbett's softball team came up with repeated big plays on the defensive side to keep the game scoreless in the early innings before Gladstone pulled away for a 7-1 home win Monday.

Gladstone stranded 12 runners with Corbett highlighting its defensive effort in the sixth inning when catcher Lindsey Flegel pounced on a sacrifice bunt on the third-base side. She chased the lead runner back and fired a throw to Serena Stencil for the tag out.

The Cardinals were one hit away from bringing the tying run to the plate in the sixth inning, highlighted by Daphne Scott's double that sailed past the left fielder and rolled toward the fence.
