Cardinals blow out Estacada to stay in the chase
CORBETT — The Corbett High softball team stayed in the postseason chase with an 11-1 home win over Estacada on Friday.
The Cardinals broke the game open in the fourth inning.
First in the top half when Daphne Scott took a tiny hop off the grass to pull down a catch in center field that stranded the bases loaded.
In the bottom of the inning, the Cardinals strung together three straight hits capped by Morgan Stafford's two-run shot through the right side. She came around to score on Scott's sacrifice fly to right field to stretch the lead to 6-1.
Corbett (7-13) remains one game back of Madras for third place in the Tri-Valley Conference, which lands a spot in the 4A qualifier matchups. The Cardinals host Madras at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.
