Centennial's softball team gave its wildcard playoff hopes a shot in the arm with a 13-7 comeback win over Gresham on Monday.

Trailing 3-0 in the bottom of the fourth inning, the Eagles broke loose for 10 consecutive hits. Jordan Payne opened the floodgates with the tiniest of trickles — a high hopper bunt that came to a stop about 10 feet down the third-base line. The connection sent base runners in motion with Hadley Cook sliding home safely, while Payne made it to the first-base bag.

Making her second trip to the batter's box in the inning, Cook belted a two-run double into the right-field gap to complete the eight-run burst.

Centennial delivered the knockout blow by putting up five more runs in the bottom of the fifth.

Centennial (12-12) sits third in the chase for one of the four 6A wildcard playoff spots.
