Barlow tried to climb into contention Friday night, but Tigard slammed the door on each side of halftime to secure the Tigers' 35-3 win in a rematch of the playoffs from the past two seasons.

Trailing 14-0 later in the first half, the Bruins put together their best drive of the night, converting three consecutive third-down plays to put itself in scoring position with only seconds on the clock.

Barlow QB Jaren Hunter got the wheels moving when he avoided a heavy rush and dodged a couple tackles before stretching the ball in front of him while diving to the turf to move the chains on third-and-2.

A 10-yard pass to tight end Jackson Kane picked up another first down and moved the ball to midfield.

The drive appeared doomed with the Bruins facing third-and-15, and Hunter being flushed out of the pocket with Tigard linemen all around. But Hunter slipped out the front door and scrambled 23 yards for the first down.

Barlow again saw its scoring chance on the line facing third-and-4 when they sent three receivers wide to the left side of the formation. That spread the field for Hunter to tuck the ball in once again, this time taking it on a draw up the middle for another first down.

Barlow eventually ran out of plays near the goal line when Tigard defensive back Hewitt Sullivan snatched the leg of Barlow ball carrier Nick Collins and hung on until help arrived to finish the tackle at the 5-yard line.

Facing yet another third down, Hunter lofted a high ball to the front pylon for 6-foot-3 receiver Durham Sundberg. But Sullivan got in the way once again, slipping in front of Sundberg and swatting the pass away with two hands.

Barlow settled for a 25-yard field goal by Abi Hoffman, its only points of the game, and went into the locker room still down two scores.

The Bruins received the second-half kickoff and drove inside Tigard's 20-yard line before giving the ball over on downs.

The Tigers took possession and struck big with QB Drew Carter finding Max Lenzy for a 39-yard touchdown pass and a commanding 21-3 lead.

Tigard would strike twice more in the fourth quarter.

The Tigers had a touchdown erased by a holding penalty on its opening drive, which ended with a missed field goal from 49 yards out.

Another touchdown was taken off the scoreboard, also by a holding penalty, in the team's next drive. But the Tigers would officially find the end zone a few plays later.

Carter swung a pass into the flat for running back Josh Burns, who converted third-and-12 with a scamper up the sideline. He almost scored on the play, but his toe landed out of bounds at the 10-yard line.

Burns would score a couple plays later when he took a handoff and bounced it around the left side, brushing off a potential tackler at the 2-yard line on his way over the goal line.

Tigard would double its lead to 14-0 before its offense came back onto the field.

Facing third-and-4, Barlow went to the air only to have Lenzy jump the sideline route for an interception, dodge a couple tacklers along the sideline and return the ball 24 yards for a touchdown.

Tigard started three of its first-half possessions in Barlow territory, while the Bruins were unable to move the chains until midway through the second quarter.
