Barlow graduate Leonard Dixon puts up a team-high 20 points in win over Pierce

The Mt. Hood Community College men's basketball team won both of its games at last weekend's tip-off tournament hosted by Portland Community College — also marking the debut of new head coach Nate Bowie.

The Saints closed out the weekend with a 100-72 win over Pierce, blowing up the game with a 60-point second half.

Bowie sent 13 players onto the floor for the early-season contest with its starting five combining to shoot 31-for-48 (64.6%) with Davion Stringer and Barlow graduate Leonard Dixon leading the way with 20 points apiece.

The Saints opened the season with a 99-87 win over Shoreline.

Mt. Hood hosts Tacoma at 6 p.m. Friday.

The Mt. Hood women's team opened with a 62-40 win over Olynpic on Saturday, holding their opponents to single digits in both the second and fourth quarters.

Bri Rosales led the Saints with 13 points, while Kelsey Higgins came off the bench and hit 4-of-5 (80%) from 3-point range.
