TROUTDALE — The Open Door Huskies wrapped up a spot into the Valley 10 boys basketball tournament with a dominating 75-28 home win over SW Christian on Monday night.
The Huskies put 10 players into the scorebook with Ben Tevs and Isaac Van Vleet each hitting first-quarter 3s to send Open Door into halftime with a 42-14 lead.
Open Door continued to pull away coming out of the locker room highlighted when Tevs swiped a steal and rushed toward the basket. He attempted a no-look pass in the lane only to have it tipped away. Teammate Johnny Cristurean dived behind the basket and saved the ball back in play, landing with Tevs for an easy finish at the front of the rim.
A few minutes later, the Huskies pulled off a similar play with Isaiah Wolcott driving behind the hoop and leaving a pass for Alex Yurko, who converted an easy finish at the rim.
Open Door took a 60-21 lead into the fourth quarter.
Reno Mikitiyuk finished with a team-high 12 points, while Tevs added 11.
"We are focused on togetherness, doing your job and being in the right place at the right time," Huskies' coach Michael Tompkins said. "We are playing a lot of guys and teaching hustle — eventually that will wear other teams down."
Open Door (13-5) won its fifth straight and is tied with North Clackamas for third place in the Valley 10 standings. The Huskies play at North Clackamas at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
