Reynolds, Centennial, Barlow fall in first round of state playoffs during Saturday slate of games

PMG PHOTO: MILES VANCE - Barlow girls soccer lost a heartbreaker in overtime during the first round of playoffs. Of the four local Mt. Hood Conference soccer teams that punched a ticket to the playoffs, none were able to make it out of the first round this weekend.

The Reynolds and Centennial boys and the Barlow and Centennial girls all earned berths to state, playing round one matches Saturday afternoon, Oct. 30. All four of the East Multnomah County teams were the lower seeds heading into the competitions, and none were able to complete an upset to move on.

Here's how the matches went:

- Reynolds — the No. 26 Raiders lost 2-0 on the road against No. 7 Lincoln. Both goals for the Cardinals came in the second half.

- Centennial — the No. 29 Eagles, who were powered all season by an electric offense, couldn't find the back of the net against No. 4 South Salem, losing 4-1.


- Centennial — the No. 28 Eagles had a difficult afternoon facing No. 5 Beaverton, losing 7-0.

- Barlow — it came down to the wire, but No. 27 Barlow lost to No. 6 Oregon City in extra time. The game was tied 1-1 after regulation, but the Pioneers found the game-winner in overtime.
