Amaya Leiby paced Bruins with 30 goals through four rounds of playoffs; 10 Barlow girls scored in playoffs

PMG PHOTO: MILES VANCE - Barlow's Amaya Leiby (left) scored 30 goals in the 2021 6A Water Polo State Tournament en route to a Bruins championship. Scoring came early and often for Barlow girls water polo as the team completed an undefeated season to win the 2021 OSAA 6A Water Polo State Championship.

Leading the way offensively for the Bruins was a trio of scorers — Amaya Leiby, Allyson Corbett and Tess Henke.

Leiby was the star of the tournament, finding the back of the net 30 times in four games. That included a team-high 5 goals in the 16-10 championship match over Mountainside/Aloha Saturday afternoon, Nov. 13. Leiby also had 12 goals, more than half what the Bruins scored, in a second round victory over Lake Oswego.

Corbett was second on the team in scoring in the playoffs, notching 18 goals. She opened the tournament with a team-high 8 goals in a first round 23-6 victory over Summit.

Henke had 12 goals in playoffs, including four in the championship game.

Throughout the playoffs, Barlow had 10 different players score goals. On defense starting keeper Allison Collins recorded 15 saves — the match against Lake Oswego in the second round did not include statistics on saves. She had 9 saves in the championship victory.
