Gresham hosts Dean Nice Invitational track & field meet
Athletes from around the state joined together for the 2022 Dean Nice Invitational Friday afternoon, April 29, at Gresham High School.
Gresham senior Manny Igbonagwan had a strong performance in the 100 — cruising to a third-place finish (11.56 PR) while running on the inside lane.
In the 110 hurdles Barlow junior Micah Perry glided to a first-place finish (14.76). He also anchored a second-place 4x100 relay team (44.10) alongside Braden Arn, Mason Holland and Sentori Martino. The Gresham boys finished just behind their crosstown rivals — Igbonagwan, Noah Letter, Dylan Huerta and Oliver Reis took third (44.53).
Barlow junior Cheyenne Myers set her best time ever in the 400 meters, finishing fourth (1:03.63 PR). The Gopher girls took fourth in the 4x100 relay (52.17), with Kennedi Thurman, Sydeny Allen, Ly'le Pullom and Ly'zarea Pullom running the event.
The Bruins finished 1-2 in the boys 1,500, as a pair of teammates spurred each other on for record times. Senior Parker Waugh took first (4:07.41 PR) followed by junior teammate Braydon Lee (4:08.67 PR).
In the girls 1,500, Barlow junior Alyssa Stumbo took sixth (5:03.47 PR).
Gresham sophomore Lucas Fahner finished fifth in boys shot put (43-3.25 feet PR); Gopher senior Emilio Gonzalez placed second in boys long jump (20-5.75 feet SR) while sophomore teammate Oliver Reis took third (20-4.25).
In the girls discus Barlow freshman Alithia Lam Tiang finished second (103-11 feet PR); while Gresham sophomore Ava Hanson took third (102-8). Bruin senior Grace Lam Tiang claimed gold in the javelin (117-7 feet PR).
