What is an E-Bike?
If you have been to Henry Hagg Park at boat ramp C in western Washington County lately, you will have noticed a new business called Pacific Northwest E-Bike Adventures.
An E-Bike is a mountain bike with 4.5 inch wide tires and a heavy duty frame. What makes this beefy bike, which weighs in at 70 pounds, an E-Bike is the electric motor mounted on the frame. According to Rob Marquardt, the owner of Pacific Northwest E-Bikes, you can pedal, moving the bike under your own power or you can engage the motor to give you a pedaling assist of more than 50%. If you are tired, (or lazy) you can adjust the motor to provide all the power while you sit up and enjoy the ride. And an E-Bike can reach speeds of about 20 miles per hour. The electric motor is powered by a battery which is good for 40 to 50 miles on each charge, Marquardt says.
You can find Pacific Northwest E-Bikes Adventures at Boat Ramp C at Hagg Lake on weekends, weather permitting, and by appointment during the week. You can rent a bike now by the hour, day or week at winter rates.
Marquardt is working on a website for his business, which will be online soon, but in the meantime you can give him a call at 503-781-7848 to reserve an E-Bike or ask questions.
