Forest Park has 80 miles of trails and roads on the eastern slope of the Tualatin Mountains just under 10 miles from Hillsboro. The park provides habitat for hundreds of native wildlife and plant species and has fabulous views of Portland and the convergence of the Willamette and Columbia Rivers.

Not only is Sauvie Island the largest in the Columbia River, it is one of the largest river island in the whole United States. Just 20 miles from Hillsboro, Sauvie island is a bird watchers paradise. An excellent place to ride your bike or paddle a kayak, later in the year it boasts many fruit and vegetable stands. A $10 parking permit is required at all non-commercial locations, visit for information.

The drive to the Bald Peak State Scenic Viewpoint is just as nice as the viewpoint. Rolling hills covered in vineyards, forests and even llama farms make the 17-mile drive enjoyable. There are picnic tables, a nice easy hike through Douglas firs and ferns and a view that stretches forever.
