Living Space Resolutions
Murphy's Furniture wants to help with your "New Year's Resolution" to improve your living space. To avoid getting overwhelmed with your resolution follow Murphy's tips below.
First, think of each room in your home and identify its intended use. Now, break down how to re-align the space back to your desired application with a digestible checklist. Start by decluttering. Purge all nonessential items. Remove them to a neutral area then organize your remaining items in a maintainable fashion (example: pantry shelves could be labeled with names of "Staples" - Pantries available @ Murphy's) Tip: put like with like (All Appliances together, all cutting utensils together) Move things that are only used occasionally to non-traffic pattern area. Look at how the room feels.
Lighting is very important, especially during the dark days of winter, so add a strategic lamp to brighten dark corners. Once the room is clean, organized and bright, add back one or two pieces that lift the room's spirit. (a pop of color can change the energy of a room - consider painting a shabby furniture piece with an inspiring bright milk paint color - available at Murphy's Furniture)
Don't be tempted to "put everything back" that you have purged - box it up now and donate it to get that year-end tax write off and possibly help someone else on their journey towards a new living space.
