FILE PHOTO - Black cats are often overlooked by prospective adopters. Adopt a beautiful black or black-and-white feline friend on Black Cat Friday at the Bonnie Hays Animal Shelter. The Bonnie Hays Small Animal Shelter is having a Black Friday Sale. Make that a Black Cat Black Friday Sale.

Now through Saturday, Nov. 28, all adult cats at the shelter that are black or black and white will have a reduced adoption fee of $10.

“We want every pet in the shelter to be home for the holidays,” said Deborah Wood, Washington County Animal Services manager. “Black kitties sometimes take a little extra time to be noticed in a shelter environment, so we are hoping that this will help those cats be noticed.”

All cats adopted from Bonnie Hays have been spayed or neutered, have a microchip and are up-to-date on vaccinations.

Adoption hours are 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from noon to 5:30 p.m. Wednesday. The shelter is closed on Sundays and will be closed on Thanksgiving Day.

It is located at 1901 S.E. 24th Ave. in Hillsboro, just in front of Lowe’s on Tualatin Valley Highway. The phone number is 503-846-7041.
