Virginia Garcia raises $240,000 at annual dinner and auction
For a third year, the Virginia Garcia Memorial Health Center's largest annual fundraiser has grown in size.
Originally carrying a different name and held in another location, the nonprofit's fundraiser and gala began in 2015. In the second year of its current rendition, Prospera! drew around 350 people to the Tiger Woods Center at the Nike World Headquarters near Beaverton on Oct. 7, raising $240,000 for Virginia Garcia's annual budget. The organization operates 17 clinics around Washington and Yamhill counties, including Hillsboro, Cornelius, Beaverton, Forest Grove and McMinnville.
The event included a ticketed dinner and live auction, held in the Stanford Theater.
Kasi Woidyla, a Virginia Garcia spokesperson, said the event is likely to get a few tweaks next year, but the Tiger Woods Center is the perfect location.
"We're pretty excited about the way it went," she said. "We hope to hold it at the Tiger Woods Center for some time."
Last year, Virginia Garcia raised $205,000 at the event, which celebrated the groundbreaking of the Beaverton Wellness Center. Virginia Garcia also holds a fundraiser in June and a healthcare symposium in March.
