The new ramp is long enough to reach the Tualatin River, and opens Memorial Day weekend.

The boat ramp at Rood Bridge Park re-opens to watercraft Memorial Day weekend.

The boat launch closed late last summer for renovations. According to city officials, the ramp was too short to reach normal water levels, leaving boaters with only a steep muddy strip of land to access the Tualatin River.

A new concrete ramp has been reconfigured to extend to the water level for easy access. City officials say a floating dock will also be installed seasonally, to make it easy for users of all abilities to enter and exit their boats.

Hillsboro's Parks & Recreation Department partnered with Metro and Oregon State Parks to finance the improvement project.
