Hundreds of kids and their parents made their way to downtown Hillsboro on Saturday for the annual Proud to be HSD Festival.
The annual celebration of the Hillsboro School District took over the Hillsboro Farmer's Market to showcase the many talents of Hillsboro students, from musical performances to remote-controlled robots built by Hillsboro students.
"The warm sunshine brought the crowds and our students kept them engaged and entertained as they showcased their learning, talents, and abilities," the school district said in a statement.
The event has been held since 2015 as a way to celebrate the achievements of Hillsboro students.
Several dance groups performed during the event, including Reedville Elementary School students, who showed off their moves with a traditional Mexican dances.
The festival's most popular event was a competition between various school mascots, who competed in a series of athletic challengers, including a dance-off competition. Mascots from several Hillsboro schools took on Barley from the Hillsboro Hops and Blaze from the Portland Trail Blazers.
In the end, it was Barley who emerged victorious, earning the Mascot Challenge Trophy for the second year in a row.
