Community members will be able to get answers to upcoming development questions for major project

Wondering about all that construction along Tualatin Valley Highway and Cornelius Pass Road?

The state's largest planned neighborhood, South Hillsboro, has been under construction for more than a year, and city staff plan to answer questions from the community about the years-long construction project at an open house Tuesday, July 10 at Century High School. STAFF FILE PHOTO - City officials are hosting an open house Tuesday, July 10, to discuss South Hillsboro, a large neighborhood under construction near Tualatin Valley Highway and Cornelius Pass Road.

From 5 to 7 p.m., staff from several agencies will be at the school, located at 2000 S.E. Century Blvd., to discuss the construction with area residents. Agencies include the city of Hillsboro, the Hillsboro School District, Washington County, the Willamette Water Supply Program, Pahlisch Homes, Newland Communities, the Home Builders Association and others.

There are no planned presentations at the open house, Preston said, instead each organization will be available to talk with residents one-on-one at any point during the two-hour event.

"The main topics are the roads, the changes that will happen with the roads in South Hillsboro, the schools, the parks, the Street of Dreams, the housing and the new homes that are being built there," said Patrick Preston, public affairs manager for the city of Hillsboro. "It's an opportunity for people to get exactly what they are interested in, answered on the spot by the person who has the expertise."

This is the second community open house on the project this year. The city held an open house in February, which drew about 400 people, Preston said, prompting officials to choose a larger location for the second event.
