Nominations open for Hillsboro Chamber's Crystal Apple Awards
Know a great teacher in the Hillsboro School District? Maybe a staff member who really makes a difference in the lives of kids? The Hillsboro Chamber of Commerce is looking to recognize several of these outstanding educators next spring during its annual Crystal Apple Excellence in Education Awards.
Nominations are now being accepted for the Crystal Apple awards, the annual event recognizes outstanding educators, administrators and other staff in the Hillsboro School District "who go above and beyond to make education a great experience in Hillsboro," the Chamber said.
Know someone worth nominating?
Winners will be recognized with a surprise ceremony in his or her school later this school year, followed by a ceremony April 11, 2019 at N.W. Events & Environments, 2900 N.E. Century Blvd.
Only the first 50 applications will be accepted, so organizers encourage everyone to submit nominees as quickly as they can. The deadline for nominations is Wednesday, Jan. 30.
"The Crystal Apple Awards is a wonderful way to provide recognition for outstanding educators, administrators and support staff of local K-12 schools in Hillsboro," the Chamber said.
The awards, which began 14 years ago, are distributed in three categories: teachers (listed as licensed staff), support staff (known as classified staff) and administrators.
Nominations can be made by students, parents, fellow HSD staff or other community members. Nominees should be promoting and modeling life-long learning, developing strategies to engage students for higher academic achievement and building positive, trusting relationships with students and the community.
