Police are investigating after a man was found shot to death inside a Hillsboro home on Tuesday, Nov. 20.
Hillsboro Police were called to the 1100 block of Northeast Grant Street at about 1:52 p.m. after receiving several calls from neighbors about gunshots in the area, according to police spokesman Lt. Henry Reimann.
When authorities arrived they found a man dead inside a home at 1192 N.E. Grant Avenue, about two blocks from Hare Field.
Reimann said the man had been shot to death, but declined to release his name or other identifying information until his family had been notified.
The case is being investigated as a homicide. So far, no arrests have been made, Reimann said.
Reimann said other people were inside the residence at the time of the shooting. Those people are being interviewed by police, Reimann said.
Beth Graser, a spokeswoman with the Hillsboro School District, said nearby Poynter Middle School briefly went into lockout on Tuesday. The lockdown lasted fewer than five minutes, Graser said.
Reimann stressed that neighbors in the area have nothing to worry about.
"The Hillsboro community is safe," he said. "There have been no threats against any other community members."
More information is expected to be released about the man's death soon, Reimann said.
