Man struck, killed by MAX train in Hillsboro
A man was killed after being struck by a MAX light rail train early Thursday morning, Dec. 20, Hillsboro police said.
The man, whose identity has not been released, was reportedly on the tracks in an area restricted to trains only about 50 yards west of Northeast Cornelius Pass Road. It was not immediately clear why he was in the area.
The crash occurred at about 4:47 a.m. when an eastbound train struck the man on the tracks, according to police. The train came to a stop about 200 yards east of Cornelius Pass Road.
The man reportedly died at the scene.
No one aboard the train was injured, police said. The train was reportedly carrying passengers at the time, early in the Thursday morning commute.
Hillsboro police are continuing to investigate the incident.
The MAX Blue Line crosses over Cornelius Pass Road on a train-only elevated railway. The nearest stop is Quatama.
