Century Boulevard re-opens after fatal crash
A man died and another was injured in a two-vehicle crash on Northeast Century Boulevard in Hillsboro Wednesday morning, Jan. 2, according to Hillsboro police.
Police spokesman Eric Bunday told Pamplin Media Group a Buick Regal traveling northbound along Northeast Century Boulevard collided with a BMW 328 at the intersection of Century Boulevard and Walbridge Drive at about 7:22 a.m., Wednesday.
Bunday said the impact was a "T-bone-style" crash. The BMW had just entered the intersection. Bunday said it was unclear if the BMW was traveling through the intersection or attempting to turn on Century Boulevard.
The driver of the BMW died at the scene. His name has not yet been released.
The driver of the Buick was taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The Washington County Crash Analysis Reconstruction Team is investigating the crash. Bunday said it's unclear whether speed or other factors may have played a role in the crash.
Northeast Century Boulevard was closed between Northeast Butler Street and Walbridge Drive following the crash. The road re-opened just after 1 p.m., police said.
