The Washington County Sheriff's Office held their annual K9 trials at Hillsboro Stadium. K9's and their handlers from the region competed in various challenges.

Hillsboro came out strong in Saturday's K-9 trials, held Saturday at Hillsboro Stadium by the Washington County Sheriff's Office.

Hillsboro officer Matt Schmidt and K-9 Blazer took first place in the day-long competition and, in a rare tie, Hillsboro's Mike Lee and his dog Oso and Washington County Sheriff's deputy Mike Zogg and his dog Case both claimed second place among the 11 dogs competing.

For 14 years, police dogs from across the region have gathered in Hillsboro once a year to compete for bragging rights in a series of competitions, including fastest dog, tracking and officer protection.
