Estacada man injured in Hillsboro-area motorcycle crash
An Estacada motorcyclist was injured in a Hillsboro-area motorcycle crash on Thursday, June 13, according to the Washington County Sheriff's Office.
Jeremy Womelsdorff, 41, of Estacada, was riding a motorcycle southbound on Northwest Cornelius Pass Road, just north of West Union Road near Hillsboro at about 7:30 a.m., Thursday, when he crashed head-on into an oncoming dump truck pulling a large trailer loaded with tree stumps.
Deputies said it appears Womelsdorff's motorcycle crossed into oncoming traffic when it struck the truck head-on. The dump truck's driver, Eugene Zurbrugg attempted to swerve, taking the truck off the road. The trailer detached and flipped over, deputies said.
Sheriff's deputies said Womelsdorff was seriously injured in the crash and was taken by Life Flight helicopter to a nearby hospital. He was listed in critical condition.
There is no indication that either Womelsdorff or Zurbrugg were under the influence of intoxicants at the time of the crash.
The road was closed for several hours. Along with the sheriff's office, the Hillsboro Police, Hillsboro Fire & Rescue, Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue and Metro West Ambulance assisted at the scene.
