The wound was not life-threatening, according to authorities. It's unclear who fired the shot.

A woman was shot and injured in the parking lot of the Hillsboro Senior Center late Monday night, Oct. 28, according to Hillsboro police.

Police said officers were dispatched to investigate a report that shots had been fired near the senior center at 750 S.E. Eighth Ave. in Hillsboro at about 11:20 p.m.

While police didn't locate anyone at the time, the Hillsboro Police Department said, a woman checked herself into the emergency room at nearby Tuality Community Hospital "a short time later" with a gunshot wound to her upper body. Investigators linked it back to the earlier call to the senior center and determined she was shot in the parking lot of the senior center.

The woman's injuries were not life-threatening, police said.

A suspect has yet to be identified in the case. The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact the police at 503-629-0111.
