A groundbreaking ceremony was held in North Hillsboro on Thursday for the Washington County Consolidated Communications Agency.

The Washington County Consolidated Communications Agency is the county's 911 dispatch center for police, fire and medical. The current building in western Beaverton is becoming too small for the agency and has antiquated technology.

This new building will be over 30,000 square feet and will be equipped with the latest communications technology and will also be seismically sound.

The building is scheduled to open and be operational mid 2021.
