Man killed by police after firing weapons in Hillsboro condo
A man who fired multiple rounds from a pistol and a rifle inside a Hillsboro condominium was shot and killed by police Thursday morning, Jan. 2, police said.
The Hillsboro Police Department identified the man as 69-year-old Stanley Hayes.
Shortly after 1 a.m., officers from the Hillsboro Police Department responded to a report of an armed man inside a condo in the 300 block of Northeast Edgeway Drive.
After police arrived, Hayes fired multiple rounds from the weapons, striking nearby residences and vehicles, police said. No one was injured.
Police shot Hayes after he emerged from the condo, police said. He was transported to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
No officers were injured in the shooting.
Edgeway drive was closed between Northeast Summer Falls Street and Northeast Holly Street until about 4 p.m.
The Washington County Major Crimes Team is investigating the incident.
