Suspect arrested in connection with Quatama MAX station murder
Police have arrested a 21-year-old Hillsboro man in connection with a December 2019 murder at the Hillsboro Quatama MAX station, the Hillsboro Police Department said Wednesday, May 20.
Jason Bennekin of Hillsboro was arrested Wednesday morning, May 20, at Union Station in Portland by Hillsboro Police detectives and officers with the Portland Police Bureau.
Bennekin has been lodged at the Washington County Jail and is charged with second-degree murder and unlawful use of a weapon.
Bennekin is accused of shooting 21-year-old Kevin Marshall, who was found with a single gunshot wound to the head at the Quatama MAX station five months ago. Marshall was later transported to a local hospital where he was confirmed dead.
In 2016, Marshall was interviewed for a Pamplin Media Group story on high schoolers preparing for job interviews. At the time, he was a junior at Century High School in Hillsboro.
Court records show Bennekin was charged with second-degree criminal trespassing multiple times in 2020 but has no other convictions.
Police have not released any other information.
