Deputies responded about 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 13, to a reported strong-arm robbery at the store at 3865 E. Baseline St., also signed as Highway 8 and Tualatin Valley Highway.

Store employees said they saw an adult woman walking through the store and loading items into a baby stroller that was partially covered by a blanket.

The woman then walked past the store's cash registers to exit the store without paying for the items.

"When contacted near the front door, the female suspect assaulted a store employee," the Sheriff's Office said. "Fortunately, the employee was not injured."

Store personnel determined the woman attempted to steal nearly $700 worth of goods.

Under Oregon law, a theft becomes a robbery when a suspect uses, or threatens to use, physical force upon another person with the intent of overcoming the efforts of store employees/loss prevention officers, the Sheriff's Office said.

Investigators suspect the woman who attempted to rob the store was 28-year-old Natashia R. Gomez of Hillsboro, the Sheriff's Office said.

Anyone with information about Gomez's whereabouts is asked to call 503-639-0111.
