Hillsboro closes schools Friday for winter weather
The Hillsboro School District closed its buildings early and canceled in-person activities Thursday afternoon, Feb. 11. The closure will continue through Friday, Feb. 12, and the weekend, due to winter weather.
Snow and icy precipitation began falling in Washington County Thursday morning. Forecasters predict more will come Thursday evening and overnight, leading to treacherous road conditions.
While only a few Hillsboro students are participating now in limited in-person instruction — with the vast majority learning remotely — the closure does affect those families. Meal deliveries, athletics and other activities have also been canceled.
Comprehensive distance learning is "unaffected" by the closures, the Hillsboro School District said.
There will be no classes Monday, Feb. 15, due to the Presidents Day holiday.
"Two meal packs will be distributed on Tuesday, Feb. 16, to cover Monday and Tuesday," the school district states on its website.
