The replacement of a culvert at Glencoe Creek will close a segment of Northeast Jackson School Road for two months.

COURTESY MAP: CITY OF HILLSBORO - A map shows an upcoming closure of a segment of Northeast Jackson School Road in Hillsboro for construction. An upcoming culvert replacement on Northeast Jackson School Road in Hillsboro will close a segment of the roadway for two months starting next week.

All lanes of the road between Northeast Harewood Street and Evergreen Road will be closed from July 19 through Sept. 17, Hillsboro Public Works Department officials said, announcing the closure Friday, July 9.

The work to replace the culvert at Glencoe Creek must occur during the fish passage window, as required by the city's permit, officials said.

It's part of ongoing work that began in fall 2019 to widen the road and construct pedestrian and bicycle infrastructure.

The work is weather-dependent, officials said, making the project dates subject to change.

Local access to homes with driveways on Jackson School Road south of the culvert via Harwood Street and north of the closure via Evergreen Road will be maintained at all times with minor delays, officials said.

The detour routes for through traffic south of the culvert will be via Harewood and Grant streets, and Evergreen Road for traffic north of the culvert.

Neighbors can expect some project-related noise during normal business hours Monday through Friday.

Emergency responders will have priority access to the roadway during the project, officials said.

Service providers, including postal service and garbage haulers will be notified to limit service disruptions in the area, officials said.

Officials reminded residents safety measures for construction workers, including keeping your distance from work crews and giving them space when passing, slowing down, using an alternate route and obeying speed and traffic signs.

The construction project along the 1.5-mile stretch of road is on schedule for completion in fall 2022, officials said.

The next phases of the project include final paving work, which is expected to begin this summer and last into the fall.

Work crews will begin replanting vegetated areas that were affected by the construction this fall into spring 2022.

Roses previously contained in the Harold Eastman Memorial Rose Garden are scheduled to return in fall 2022, officials said.
