Hillsboro man dies in McMinnville-area crash
A Hillsboro man died Sunday, Sept. 12, after crashing his motorcycle in Yamhill County, authorities said.
The Oregon State Police said 22-year-old Michael Abeyta was riding eastbound on Highway 18, just east of the McMinnville Airport, when a vehicle pulled out of a private driveway into the road.
Abeyta struck the driver's-side door of the Toyota Camry, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
State troopers and other emergency personnel responded to the crash at about 11 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 12.
The driver of the Toyota, 21-year-old Jared Nissen, reportedly suffered minor injuries. His passenger, 21-year-old Samantha Maddox of Amity, was unhurt.
The crash remains under investigation.
Highway 18, signed locally as Southeast Dayton Bypass, was closed for about three and a half hours following the crash before reopening Monday morning, Sept. 13, police said.
