This year's event on Thursday, Jan. 27, will be livestreamed on Zoom and Facebook.

PMG FILE PHOTO - Hillsboro Mayor Steve Callaway will deliver his 2022 State of the City address at 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 27.If you're interested in what's happening in Hillsboro, you can tune in on Zoom or the city government's Facebook page Thursday, Jan. 27, to hear the mayor deliver his annual State of the City address.

Hillsboro will again hold its State of the City event in virtual form this year, due to a surge in COVID-19 cases. That means there will not be a live audience, although the event will be streamed live.

Last year, Mayor Steve Callaway hosted six panel discussions, each of them recorded and published online as a separate video, for his State of the City presentation. The resulting 172 minutes of video made Hillsboro's State of the City by far the longest of its kind in the region.

More conventionally, a State of the City address typically consists of a rundown of last year's accomplishments and a preview of what is to come this year. The mayor will also likely address how the pandemic has affected, and continues to affect, the Hillsboro community.

The theme of this year's State of the City address is "We Love Hillsboro."

"Ask 100 people, 'What do you love about Hillsboro?' and you might get 100 different answers," Callaway said in a preface to the Jan. 27 program. "There's so much to love about our hometown."

He added, "This year, we will celebrate all that we love about our community during the 2022 State of the City."

The livestream begins at 6 p.m. Jan. 27.

The State of the City can be viewed via Zoom or on the City of Hillsboro's Facebook page.
