The Hillsboro Police Department describes some of its notable calls for service from Aug. 22-28, 2022.

Monday, Aug. 22

A driver crashed into a tree and streetlight near Northeast Walker Road and North Amberglen Parkway. She consented to providing urine and blood samples at the hospital and was cited for DUII.

A man was called in as a suspected drunk driver near Southeast Walnut Street and Ninth Avenue. The driver and his vehicle were located by officers and stopped. The man was arrested for DUII. A breath sample indicated his blood alcohol content was over twice the legal limit.

Tuesday. Aug. 23

A woman was taken into protective custody for a mental health evaluation after she deliberately placed herself on the MAX tracks to be struck by an oncoming train near Northeast 28th Avenue and Veterans Drive. The woman attempted to use a metal traffic sign to fight officers who were taking her into custody. She was taken into custody, unharmed, after a short standoff.

A woman was arrested for shoplifting from a business in the 200 block of East Main Street. The woman was taken to jail.

Wednesday, Aug. 24

A man reported he was assaulted by another man known to him in the 1000 block of Northeast Briarcreek Way. He told officers he was strangled and had a dislocated shoulder because of the assault. Officers searched for the suspect, who was not located. The investigation is ongoing.

A black 2009 Smart car with red interior was stolen overnight while parked in an apartment complex parking lot near Northeast Orenco Station Parkway and Cornell Road.

Thursday, Aug. 25

A man was observed in a vehicle parked in a no-parking zone in the 7500 block of East Main Street. The man was contacted by an officer, and it was learned he was a registered sex offender who had not registered since 2017. The man was arrested for the failure to register and taken to jail.

A woman was reported to be at a residence in the 1400 block of Northeast 10th Avenue in violation of a valid restraining order. Officers located the woman at the residence who admitted being at the residence for a couple of days prior to the contact. Officers confirmed the validity of the restraining order and arrested the woman for the violation. She was taken to jail.

Friday, Aug. 26

A vehicle rear-ended another vehicle at full speed in the 8400 block of Northeast Cornell Road. According to witnesses, it appeared the driver at fault was distracted, as she did not attempt to slow down. No injury was reported.

A woman reported someone put glue in her door lock, which prevented her for getting into her apartment in the 18000 block of West Baseline Road. The apartment security cameras may have captured the suspect. The apartment management will be providing video to police. The investigation continues.

Saturday, Aug. 27

Three women were reported by store loss prevention at a business in the 11000 block of Northeast Evergreen Parkway to be operating in concert with each other to shoplift and steal product. Loss prevention described the women, the product they stole and the vehicle they left in after stealing. Responding officers located the vehicle, the described women and stolen merchandise. All three women were arrested and taken to jail.

An elderly woman was trying to move her car in the 8600 block of Northeast Adlington Street when she slammed into a building, causing damage. She panicked and reversed at a high rate of speed and crashed into a 4-foot retaining wall. The back of her car somehow ended up on top of a retaining wall and took down a fence. The woman was not seriously injured and was treated by medics at the scene of the crash.

Sunday, Aug. 28

A woman was contacted on the MAX Hatfield Station platform for a welfare check. The woman was found to have a felony warrant for failure to register as a sex offender. The woman was taken to jail.

Yet another retailer reported organized retail theft happening at a clothing store. The retailer in the 11000 block of Northeast Evergreen Parkway reported three women stole merchandise and departed the premise in a Dodge Journey. Later, the same three women continued their crime spree at different nearby retailers. Responding officers located one of the women, and she was arrested and went to jail. The other two were not located. The investigation continues.
