Walters Cultural Arts Center, 527 East Main St., will be hosting a reception for this month’s featured artists, who are all exploring the meaning of “red” through varying textiles, techniques and points of view that draw upon traditions of quilting as a foundation while exploring and approaching the art form from a contemporary point of view.

Sequoia Gallery + Studios, 136 S.E. Third Ave. in Hillsboro, will feature Christine Johnson’s jewelry created from Oregon beach stones; Lee Wiren’s luminescent photographs on metal; and Royce Kugler’s oil paintings of Northwest wildlife (shown above). The reception will go from 6 to 8 p.m.

Summa Real Estate, 231 E. Main St., will hold a reception from 6 to 8 p.m. for February’s featured artist, Daniel Work, with acoustic guitarist Alejandro Achondo performing. Work paints on canvas, canvas board, wood and paper, and uses everyday imagery as his subject matter with a modern spin.
