The Valley Art Gallery in Forest Grove offers classes from quilting to pottery as well as monthly Artist receptions.

Valley Art continues the Free Saturday Series for Kids on Saturday, March 9, from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. with Tiny Mosaics. Make a tiny mosaic masterpiece using seed beads. Ages 7 and up, or younger with adult facilitation. Free.
The March Featured Artist reception will be Saturday, March 9, from 2 to 4 p.m. Join us for our Featured Artist Reception. New art by two or three featured artists, hors d'oeuvres, and great company. Free; no reservation required.

The Hillsboro First Tuesday Art Walk is every first Tuesday of the month, from 5 to 8 p.m.
Downtown businesses display art and host receptions with refreshments and drinks and bring in local musicians. Up to 17 locations each month. Free.

Sequoia Gallery + Studios in Hillsboro is presenting shows on the first Tuesday of the month this spring, coinciding with the Downtown Hillsboro First Tuesday Art Walk.
On Tuesday, March 5, from 5 to 8 p.m., Sequoia will showcase three artists. Laura Wilson will show new work in oil and watercolor with an emphasis on our evolving landscapes and ways of seeing. Ellen Jerome will be exhibiting new oil paintings inspired by nature. Jenny Champlin's show will feature an installation using elements that keep her awake at night. The public is invited to meet the artists and visit 12 artists' studios. Free; no reservation required.
The April 2 Hip to Be Square Show will also run from 5 to 8 p.m. This annual community show features 12-foot-by-12-foot works by more than 300 artists of all ages, from beginners to pros. Meet the artists and view the amazing variety of styles and mediums. Prizes to be awarded during the reception. Free; no reservation required.
Artistic couple Kris and Robert Zorko are teaming up for their May 7 show at Sequoia Gallery + Studios, also from 5 to 8 p.m. Kris Zorko explores the possibilities with paper in both 2-D and 3-D, with her paper-tiled mirrors and plaques, notebooks and paper earrings. Bob draws inspiration for his timeless acrylic paintings from all over the world. Free; no reservation required.

The Catherine Bede Gallery in Hillsboro represents a group of local artists who working in media ranging from pen and ink to sculpture. The gallery hosts a monthly artist reception from 5 to 8 p.m. with hors d'oeuvres and wine tasting during the Downtown Hillsboro First Tuesday Art Walk. They will be on Tuesday, March 5; Tuesday, April 2; and Tuesday, May 7.

Everybody is welcome at Family Art Night at the Glenn and Viola Walters Cultural Arts Center. Walters instructor Alice Hill will facilitate work on hands-on art projects individually or team up as a family. Each Thursday offers a different project and material to work with. All supplies included. Family Art Night takes place every Thursday evening from 6:30 to 8:30 pm and is a drop-in program at the Walters. The cost is $5 per person. Children under the age of 3 are free. All children — anyone under the age of 18 — must be accompanied by an adult. Parents are encouraged to assist young children.
As part of the Hillsboro Downtown Art Walk, the Walters hosts also First Tuesday Receptions, scheduled this spring on March 5, April 2 and May 7 from 5 to 8 p.m.
Art lovers at the Walters are also invited to a transcendent experience at The Secret Rainbow Exhibit, featuring artists Sue Parman, Carmen Sonnes and Lynne Taylor, from April 2 to May 24. These colorful works push beyond the surface of the everyday. The paintings in this collection tell stories with prismatic colors and touches of surrealism. Free for all ages.

The Old Town Sherwood Spring Art Walk is a highly anticipated Old Town Sherwood tradition. Enthusiasts of all ages are invited to get their art fix. Local businesses throughout six historic blocks showcase local artists. Meet artists, watch demonstrations, enjoy activities and hear live music. Pick up an Art Walk map and collect a stamp at each stop to be entered to win a prize basket. The Old Town Sherwood Spring Art Walk is on Thursday, April 14, from 5 to 8 p.m. Free.

The annual Lake Oswego Lake Area Artists show and sale is on May 3 through May 5 at the Lakewood Center for the Arts. Original paintings in many mediums. The sale runs from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m on Sunday. Artists receptions are from 3 to 6:30 p.m. Guests can enjoy demonstrations, wine and cheese. Free.
