The skating is good at Orenco Station through Jan. 5. This is the fifth season for the outdoor ice rink.

The Village, which returned for its fifth season, is the area's only outdoor ice-skating rink.

In previous seasons, attendance has been light during the week until many school-age children are out of school, Hillsboro community resources manager Mary Loftin said.

But now, the rink is open on Tuesday mornings from 10 a.m. until noon for "Toddler Tuesdays." Parents and guardians can join their children ages 18 months to 5 years old on the ice for a special skate session. Older siblings are welcome to come, too, Loftin said.

"We do these special sessions so the little ones can be out there and they don't have the big folks racing around," Loftin said. "It's a little more fun for them and a little safer."

Tickets are $3 off the regular price for Toddler Tuesdays.

General price tickets are $13 for those 12 years old and up, $10 for ages 4-11, free for ages 3 and under, and $1 off for active-duty military and first responders. Bobby skate aid rentals are $5. Tickets are $2 off if you bring your own skates.

Skating sessions are first come first serve and tickets are available 15 minutes before each session. No pre-sale or online tickets are available, Loftin said.

The ice-skating area is 26 feet by 115 feet. With those dimensions, it can hold 70 skaters at a time, and it can sometimes sell out, Loftin said.

Each ice-skating session is 90 minutes, the first starting at 10 a.m. and the last at 8 p.m., with 30-minute breaks in between for resurfacing and maintenance.

In order to skate, everyone needs to sign a waiver. Waivers can be filled out ahead of time at hillsboro-oregon.gov, Loftin said.

Winter Village runs through Sunday, Jan. 5.
