A banner year on the diamond ended with a handful of All-State honors and selections for the Hillsboro Spartans baseball team.

After losing nine consecutive games in the preseason, the Spartans finished strong, going 15-2 and winning the Northwest Oregon Conference before a first-round state playoff loss to Crescent Valley ended their 2018 season.

But despite the first-round defeat, Hilhi wrangled a bevy of All-League awards and gathered two All-State honors, while being nominated for two more.

Spartans senior Curran Mitzel was not only voted as the NWOC Player of the Year but also as both a first-team pitcher and outfielder. At the statewide level, he was selected as a first-team All-State outfielder, while his teammate Cameron Losey garnered an honorable mention as an All-State infielder.
