Hops honor veterans and first responders
In an ongoing effort to give back, the Hillsboro Hops will further honor members of our armed forces, along with first-responders, with a weekend ticket promotion designed to do just that.
Military, first responders and their families — past and present — will receive a 25 percent discount on tickets Friday, Aug. 2 through the 4th.
As part of the promotion, the team will wear camouflage jerseys which will be auctioned-off afterwards, with proceeds benefitting Mission 22, USO, the local branch of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars, along with Tools for Troops and Blue Star Mothers of Oregon.
"When we moved the team here, it was important to us to find ways to honor those who sacrifice their lives for our safety and freedom," Hops President and General Manager K.L. Wombacher said. "We do that nightly through our military salute, and our Salute to Service Weekend is where we can really shine a spotlight on these brave men and women for an entire three games."
Festivities will include postgame fireworks following the Aug. 2 game, a softball game featuring the Hillsboro police and fire departments prior to the Aug. 3 contest, and an opportunity for kids to run the bases following both the Saturday and Sunday games.
Veteran Services will be present on the concourse at Ron Tonkin Field throughout the games, including representatives from the USO, Washington County Veteran Services, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Blue Star Mothers of Oregon, and the Patriot Guard Riders will ride around the field before the 4:05 p.m. game Aug. 4.
To receive the discount, tickets must be purchased at the Ron Tonkin Field ticket office.
